I mentioned earlier that I had taken the staff of The Church at Argenta on a spiritual retreat and that we had worked through some sections of The Rule of St. Benedict as a discussion-starter and jumping-off-point for our time together. I decided to take that guide and paste into it the relevant sections from The Rule (we were working from an actual copy of The Rule on the retreat) so that anybody interested might go through it as well. The upside is that the guide is now a self-contained unit that anybody can download and use (though I think I may adapt it some in light of feedback from the retreat). The downside is that the online version of The Rule I found contains older Enlgish. It shouldn’t be a problem for anybody wanting to go through this as a devotional exercise, but I did want to note that more user-friendly translations of The Rule are now available.
